DESCRIPTION

Sagebrush to Summit is a three-day overland event designed around purposeful driving and backcountry exploration. We depart from Central Oregon and head southeast, combining dirt, gravel, and remote terrain (with limited pavement in between) into a coordinated route.

This event emphasizes route navigation, group travel, dispersed camping, and self-sufficiency — not lodging, catered meals, or static destinations.

Over two nights, we’ll camp as a group in dispersed locations, maintain small groups on the route, and experience terrain that rewards preparation, curiosity, and capable vehicles.

This is not a guided tour. It’s a driving event through terrain.

Event Overview

  • Dates: July 24–26, 2026

  • Length: 3 days / 2 nights

  • Camping: Dispersed as a group

  • Group Size: Intentionally limited

VEHICLE & DRIVER EXPECTATIONS

This event is open to a wide range of capable vehicles, but preparation matters:

  • Mechanically solid vehicles

  • Appropriate tires for varied surfaces (“all terrain” type tires recommended)

  • Sufficient fuel range for remote segments (at least 200 mile range)

  • Basic recovery and repair tools

  • Camping gear for two nights

Drivers should be comfortable navigating non-paved terrain and helping support others in small groups when needed.

GROUP STRUCTURE

There is no lead vehicle or official sweep.

Drivers will be grouped based on vehicle type, common interests, and experience.

This ensures safety and camaraderie.

Registration Details

  • Registration is per driver / per vehicle

  • No passenger registration required

  • Vehicles must be street legal, insured, and mechanically sound

Drivers are expected to arrive with fully prepared vehicles and a respect for the roads, the group, and the experience.

After Registration

Registered drivers will receive:

  • Confirmation email

  • Event timeline and logistics

  • Route and briefing details closer to the event

All final details will be distributed electronically prior to the event.

Day 1: Friday — July 24

Into the Sagebrush | 8:00 AM from Sunriver
We will head out of Sunriver immediately onto dirt for 250+ miles, through forests and over mountains, into the desert.
After our last stop for fuel of the day, we venture further and further from the highway to setup camp for the night.

Day 2: Saturday — July 25

Up to the Summit | 8:00 AM from Remote Location 1
For our second day, we will barely touch pavement.
150+ miles of dirt will take us further into the wilderness and put you and your vehicle to the test.
We will have a chance to fuel up (both for the vehicles and our stomachs) before setting up camp beneath the stars.

Day 3: Sunday — July 26

The Return Journey | 8:00 Am from Remote Location 2
Our final driving day combines a mix of dirt and pavement for the almost 300 mile trek back to Sunriver.
We start and end our day on the dirt, with the asphalt only being used to get us back home a little earlier on Sunday.
This will give us one last chance to exchange stories and mark the completion of Sagebrush to Summit, until next time.

CAMPING

We will camp as a group at dispersed areas both nights.
Dispersed camping means:

  • No reservations

  • No established facilities (be prepared for no toilets!)

Evenings are simple — set up camp, eat, share stories, rest.

No programming. No pressure.
